Korean firms, universities showcase new technologies

HCM CITY – Korean businesses and universities introduced new technologies to Vietnamese firms to explore collaboration and sales opportunities at a networking event in HCM City yesterday.

The event was organised by the Saigon Innovation Hub (SIHUB) and the Busan United Management of Technology Centre (BUH).

Huỳnh Kim Tước, CEO of SIHUB, said: “Technology development is an important topic in Việt Nam. It is not enough to simply trade technologies and finished products between two countries; both sides have to co-operate in the early stages and work on ideas together to fully assist each other in developing technology.”  

Kang Geon-Hwan, head of BUH, said Korea had a huge interest in transferring technologies to Việt Nam and hoped for close co-operation between the two countries.

The Korean universities showcased new technologies including a reaction force support device for valve handles, a smart vehicle recognition system using the Internet of Things, a multi degree-of-freedom underwater operation robot, a targeted advertising system on public transport vehicles, and a motion-based interactive jet ski virtual reality system.

The Korean companies introduced products that included a fire detection system for boats, semi-automatic screwdrivers and vessel components.

Nguyễn Thanh Hà of the Asia Pacific International Travel Company said the Korean technologies were new and interesting, especially the targeted advertising system, and could be very beneficial to Vietnamese companies.

SIHUB also signed a memorandum of understanding with BUH for co-operation in the development of technologies and trade.

Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Bình Minh previously said that Việt Nam would like to strengthen its strategic partnership with Korea, and was keen to acquire technologies from its partner. – VNS
